November Trading Up

We did a big trade up in November...

Out: Our Anolon cookware set
In: Shiny new Essteele copper based stainless steel pots and pans! It was a big investment but the money from the sale of our 2 year old set on eBay went towards it and afterall it's an investment in ourselves for the long term. I'm looking forward to having these for decades!

Out: Disposable cotton make-up pads - use once and throw out? No there must be a better solution!
In: These clever flannel reusable make-up pads - just thrown them in you delicates bag with the washing once a week! I know I know, I was going to make some but have to save my energy for Christmas creations!

October Trading Up

October has been a great month for trading up...

Out: Natio Eye Cream
In: Trilogy Eye Contour Cream

Out: Artistry Essentials Soothing Crème
In: Trilogy Age Proof Replenishing Night Cream

Out: Mr Sheen, Windex, Spray & Wipe
In: Project Green cleaning kit, I purchased the Glass & Stainless cleaner, Shower & Bathroom Cleaner and Disinfectant - each came as a concentrate with an empty spray bottle for mixing my own. Best thing - it's made right here in Seddon! I went to work on my stainless steel oven and stove straight away with brilliant results - I think this stuff makes me actually want to clean!

Out: Lots of plastic containers, silicone bakeware and our old non stick wok
In: Saving my glass jars for food storage and a new carbon steel wok!

Trading Up: August

It's only early in August and we've already made a great trade up - our old hand-me-down Dishlex dishwasher was becoming anything but energy efficient - stalling in the Heat cycle meant it was probably pushing a 'negative' energy rating, and we knew it was time to trade up.
After researching the most efficient brands and models on these government Energy Rating and Water Rating websites, we decided we couldn't quite afford the highest rated appliances so we turned to eBay and yesterday hooked up our new old Asko 1605 for a fraction of the price. I'm thrilled to report that after only being used once before we bought it and stored for several, it runs like a dream.

And not only did we save another one being manufactured and imported from Sweden - we saved ourselves a lot of money too! Another eBay success story!

I can also report on another happy Freecycler - some lucky person now owns my 12 bridal magazines and I've saved another box from clogging up our cupboards. Happy days!
