Call off the search

One last ditch effort and I've found that evasive little pug. No the website isn't a man's name. Yes the price was right! And yes they are book ends! I think I first came across Brown Button Trading through a wedding blog and apart from some lovely ribbons I found these two darling pugs!
I won't lose them now! They are most definitely saved in my delicious - apart from having their own mention here... now to buy or not to buy? And which colour?

Got something to show you...

The dress I'm making for A&D's wedding is finished but for one small but important detail, just like an artist signs their canvas with a flourish, I too put my name on my creations. At this point I have to give a shout out to Veronica Darling, whose Darling Husbie gave me the idea, but R Draper and Co of Apparel Labels made it happen. I'm working on the jacket and bag this weekend so I'll get some photos up of the complete outfit on Sunday I hope!

Speaking of Sunday I can't wait to get all dolled up for Andrea's Hens High Tea at RBG's Terrace Tea Rooms. We'll be enjoying bubbles, manicures and massages all afternoon!

It's delicious, but it only works if you use it

I just love delicious - when I remember to use it! I think we've all seen something on the web that was interesting, then we've disregarded it and went on with our surf. That happened again to me a couple of months ago and now I trawl through the www in search of nothing less than what I remember as a little white porcelain pug statue. I think he's sitting. I also think I found saw him on a decorating blog. He might be a bookend. I remember that the website where you can purchase him was a man's name. I'm pretty sure that he was around $39 (don't know what currency tho!).

Of course, I haven't found him again yet but I have found these little guys on eBay...

If anyone spots anything fitting this description you know where to find me!

A Moment to Myself

One friend is making a new start today, I wish her all the best.
One friend has lost something, I wish I could help her.

"Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?" God, Evan Almighty (2007)

I like this quote, no one can change your behaviour for you, you must do the hard yards yourself. It's very much about breaking habits, when we're presented with an opportunity to change sometimes the habitual response is so well ingrained that we react automatically, without even realising it.
To change requires awareness and focus.

If your mind isn't clear then how will you be prepared for the opportunity? Make the decision.

When your mind is foggy all you can do is rely on auto-pilot to guide you. I wholly believe that your surrounds can make a big impact on your mood and I know how much more organised my mind is when my house is under control. This actually works 2 ways, because my organised mind then gives me more peace at work.

Ever had a truly wonderful weekend but found that by the time Sunday night rolls around you realise you don't feel refreshed or relaxed at all? Even though it was full of great moments and special people? I can hear you thinking 'What a terrible bore to have such a busy schedule - full of all those moments and people'. If all this activity becomes irritating, then it's probably a warning sign. It's time to schedule 'nothing' in the calendar and that's exactly what I've done.

I am sometimes envious of my friends who just chill out at home all weekend, they may not have had the excitement I did but I bet they are much better prepared to face a new week. I can't say I don't enjoy it, that would be ungracious. I need to reconsider my commitments, things are out of balance.

Operation Adasch

Having passed the initial planning phase, Operation Adasch is now moving into position. The target's closest friends have all been alerted to the rendezvous in QLD, August of this year.

I really hope we can talk a couple of the guys into it - because afterall - it might be their 2nd trip to QLD within 2 months! Having said that, we're off to a good start, LA contacted me today offering to hire an apartment on the beach - apparently the do this every July so he's sure he could swing it for August.

We're off to a promising start!

Pugville Success!

I know I know I know I’m backtracking – last week was so flat out that I’m only now able to collect my thoughts!

Have to tell you about what a hit Pugville was. Rossi and I got to the park 10 minutes early and our faithful friends Matt & Kat wandered down for moral support. Well they could have slept in because soon Pugs started arriving – 1 then 2 then a couple more… we hit a grand total of 11 pugs!

I’ve forgotten some names but there was Rossi, Dudley Einstein, Jezebel, Gobbla, Dudley, Porky, Buddy and China. It was fantastic to meet so many locals and their pugs and Rossi had a brilliant birthday! We enjoyed the green grass under some shady trees for about an hour and a half before we all headed our separate ways, Rossi and I enjoyed brunch at Gravy Train before heading home – where he snored his head off for the rest of the day! Feedback from our new friends was great and we hope to see all of them again often.

get fit without knowing it (or women are great multitaskers)

I would definitely say I'm a fairweather rider. I haven't once left home on my bicycle in the rain and the hottest I've ridden in was 34deg. But that's fine with me. My old bike had an odometer so I could keep track of the k's I was racking up but it doesn't bother me now - in fact I'm glad to be rid of it.

I glide along the path at a leisurely pace while others speed past me in a sweaty hunched over fashion. What's the rush?

The best bit is that I'm riding to work 2-3 times each week now and I'm getting fit without even knowing! I look forward to my rides and don't push the bike along counting down the minutes until I've arrived.

Funny how I didn't stick with the gym, swimming, aerobics, circuit, spinning or yoga. Cycling is effortless - it's an efficient way for me to get around and the health benefits are a bonus - I don't make excuses to get out of it and it costs me less!

This is a great example of the female power to multitask - and I've just added another dimension - riding home in a strapless top will help me even out those tan lines too!

sewing up a storm

Funny - I actually felt a bit guilty because I haven't been on here since Friday night.
I've been right into sewing again this week - I'm making a dress to wear to a friend's wedding and it will be finished by the weekend - just one week for a new dress! I got past the tricky zip last night and I've only got the back split and hem to finish. Lucky because then I'll be making a cute jacket and bag to go with it! Trav will be away again this weekend so I should be able to get a good start on those. Will definitely put up a pic when it's done!

We've got an exciting few months ahead of us - we're pretty much booked until Easter catching up with lots of friends and doing heaps of exciting things. Lots of picnics too - Picnic at Hanging Rock for a classic car show, an evening picnic and moonlight cinema at the Botanical Gardens with friends, twilight picnic at the zoo with more friends with Daryl Braithwaite performing.... can't wait!
